Selling Your Gold and Jewelry for Cash
Have you been paying attention to all these new advertisements that are popping up on radio, TV, in print, and even on billboards in Toronto and all over the GTA in general concerning gold? Do you have gold jewelry you can send in to these booming companies and get back a hefty sum of money via the mail? If you live in a major metropolitan area or close to one there are even scheduled events you can attend to have your valuable gold jewelry and other gold items appraised and have secure cash in your hand before you leave. There are even new events called "gold parties" where individuals can set up meetings in their own homes and have a jeweler present to do on the spot appraisals. Some people in this trend call it "a new-age Tupperware party" because it is generally the same idea, you can supposedly leave these parties feeling a little richer than when you showed up.
First thing to ask yourself when selling your gold and jewelry is why these new gold buying companies in Toronto want your gold as well as why you would want to part with it at such a discounted rate. In the present day uncertain economic environment gold is becoming an increasingly popular commodity, but it is still very much under appreciated and to someone who is unwary, it is only seen as a cluttered mess that they can trade for something that is much more instantly gratifying. If gold is appreciating in terms of dollar value, why should you downgrade the value by handing it over to one of these gold buying companies that can sometimes make false claims of paying the top dollar? You must recognize that even the United States Mint cannot supply enough Gold Eagles to meet the growing demand without interrupting production due to shortages in gold. Giving up your gold in a seller's market at a discounted rate is not always the smartest move you can make.
It is unfortunate that many of the individuals who will end up trading in their gold presently are the ones who may be able to benefit the most from it at a later date. Of course I do not fault these people. Times are becoming increasingly hard for many, and money can be tight. The cash-giving companies have easily recognized these financial straights of many down-on-their-luck individuals, and set up shop to capitalize on the situation and to milk it as long as possible. An Unsuspecting person may pay a couple of their late bills, or have a nice night on the town with someone special, meanwhile the gold purchaser makes a huge spread on the deal.
You should pay attention to another signal. I am sure you have heard of the indicators of present failing economy. The housing bubble has burst, the trillions of dollars in bailout funds being given out, and the near-zero interest rates at the banks. Mainstream America is now lined with dozens of payday loan establishments, they are putting the squeeze on many of the surrounding retail establishments. These companies are in the business of selling money, and it is not cheap for the consumer.
